Industry Overview
Non-ferrous metals are metals that do not contain iron or ferrous. Non-ferrous metals include aluminum, copper, zinc, lead, nickel, titanium, tin, and precious metals such as gold and silver. Non-ferrous metals offer some compelling characteristic properties:
- High corrosioin and rust resistance
- Non-magnetic property
- Lower melting point
- Excellent thermal and electrical conductivities
- Ductility and malleability
- Lightweight
- Recyclability
As a result, these metals find extensive applications across automotive, aerospace, defense, electronics, electricity & energy, construction, healthcare and mechanical engineering industries.
Non-ferrous metal manufacturing process is energy intensive as it takes a great amount of fuels to smelt and refine metals. In addition, acids and alkalis and other chemical reagents are often used in the main process. As a result, a significant amount of particulate emissions occurs. Therefore, non-ferrous metal plants need efficient filtratioin solutions.
