Visual Inspection

Estimated Reading Time: < 1 min read

Once all bags and cages are installed in a compartment, perform a thorough visual inspection from both the clean and dirty air sides (if accessible):

Inside the Baghouse

  • Confirm all new filter bags are properly seated in the tube sheet, with snap bands or clamps securely in place.
  • Verify that cages are correctly inserted into the bags and are not bent or damaged.
  • Check for any tools, debris, or foreign objects left inside the hoppers, on the tube sheet, or within the clean air plenum. Remove anything found.
  • Ensure no vertical wires of the cages are pressing against the bag fabric in a way that could cause premature wear.

External Inspection

  • Check all ductwork connections for tightness.
  • Inspect all dampers (inlet, outlet, bypass, isolation) to ensure they are in their correct pre-startup positions (often closed or partially closed, depending on the system design).
  • Verify that the dust discharge system (rotary airlock, screw conveyor, etc.) is clear of obstructions and ready for operation.
  • Confirm all electrical connections are secure and control panels are ready.
