By providing this complete set of information, Aokai Environtec can give customers a precise and accurate quote. In addition, we can then design and manufacture the correct flat filter cages that integrate seamlessly with customers’ existing baghouses, ensuring efficient filtration and extended lifespan.

Start with this short video for a quick look at the filter cage measurement process!

Core Geometric Measurements (Crucial for Fit)

  • Length (Overall Length): The total measurement from the very top to the very bottom of the cage. This should match the length of the filter bag it supports.
  • Width (Larger Dimension of Cross-Section): The measurement across the wider face of the rectangular cage. This is often the primary “flat width” measurement you’d get from the bag itself when laid flat.
  • Thickness (Smaller Dimension of Cross-Section / Depth): The measurement across the narrower face of the rectangular cage. This dimension is critical for the cage to fit into the “pocket” or “envelope” of the filter bag.
  • Perimeter (Optional, but often provided by manufacturers): While you can derive this from Width and Thickness (2×(Width+Thickness)), some manufacturers might specify their flat cages by a given perimeter (e.g., 800mm, 900mm). If this is provided, it’s good to confirm the individual width and thickness that make up that perimeter.

Internal Structure & Support

  • Number of Vertical Wires: The count of wires running lengthwise along the cage, providing the primary support for the filter bag.
  • Number of Horizontal Rings: The count of rings running horizontally around the cage.
  • Horizontal Ring Spacing (Space between Rings): The distance between the horizontal support rings. This is typically consistent, but note if the spacing differs at the top or bottom.
  • Wire Gauge (Wire Diameter): The thickness of the individual wires used to construct the cage. This is often given in gauge (e.g., 11 gauge) or in millimeters/inches (e.g., 3.0mm, 0.125 inches). Please note that the wire gauge for the vertical wires and horizontal rings might be different.

Top and Bottom Construction (Critical for Installation & Sealing):

  • Top Construction Style: This describes how the cage is designed at the top to secure the filter bag and install into the baghouse tubesheet. Common styles include:
    • Flat Flange: A flat metal flange at the top for bolting or clamping.
    • Rolled Flange / Turned Down Flange: A rolled edge for a specific type of bag or mounting.
    • Custom Fittings: Depending on the OEM design, there might be unique tabs, slots, or other elements.
    • Venturi (if applicable): While less common on traditional flat cages, some specialized designs might incorporate a venturi. If so, specify its length ve diameter.
  • Bottom Construction Style: How the bottom of the cage is formed. Common options include:
    • Welded Pan Bottom: A solid metal plate welded to the bottom.
    • Crimped Cup/Bottom: A formed metal cup crimped onto the wires.
    • Open Bottom: The wires simply terminate.

Materials and Coatings

  • Material: The metal composition of the cage wires and any structural components (e.g., plain carbon steel, galvanized steel, 304 stainless steel, 316 stainless steel).
  • Finish Treatment / Coating: Any applied coatings to protect against corrosion or improve performance (e.g., galvanized, epoxy coating, powder coating, silicone coating, PVC vinyl coating).

Other Important Details (if applicable)

  • Multi-Piece Construction: If the cage comes in multiple sections (e.g., two-piece, three-piece) due to height restrictions, specify the type of connection (e.g., twist-lock, knuckle/claw joints, ring joints) and the length of each section.
  • Abnormalities or Special Features: Note any unique bends, offsets, specific wire patterns, or other custom features.
  • OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Information: If you know the make and model of the baghouse or the original cage manufacturer, this can often help suppliers identify the correct cage quickly.
  • Application: Knowing the specific industry and type of dust being filtered can help manufacturers recommend the best materials and coatings.
